Charney Army

The CHARNEY ARMY is a group of volunteers who carry out simple maintenance tasks in the village under the general guidance of the Parish Council.

They normally meet for a couple of hours in the morning of the second and last Thursday of the month. Members are sent a reminder prior to each session outlining the work to be carried out. Typical tasks include, for example

  • Grass cutting
  • Minor flood prevention activities.
  • Footpath maintenance.
  • Cleaning of street and road signs.
  • Minor tree work.
  • Painting tasks
  • Village bench maintenance.
