The CHARNEY ARMY is a group of volunteers who carry out simple maintenance tasks in the village under the general guidance of the Parish Council.
They normally meet for a couple of hours in the morning of the second and last Thursday of the month. Members are sent a reminder prior to each session outlining the work to be carried out. Typical tasks include, for example
- Grass cutting
- Minor flood prevention activities.
- Footpath maintenance.
- Cleaning of street and road signs.
- Minor tree work.
- Painting tasks
- Village bench maintenance.
