Charney Bassett Neighbourhood Plan

The neighbourhood plan is an initiative driven by the village residents rather than specifically by the Parish Council. The plan coordinators are: Hugh Brookes, Neil Dobson (email: neil_dobson@hotmail.co.uk), Ron Smith, and Sheila Terry.

Each villager in Charney Bassett will be given the opportunity to comment on the plan as it progresses.

If you want to know more about the scheme in general see the Vale of the White Horse and the Oxfordshire Rural Community Council Web pages.

Below is information provided by the Vale concerning the first stage of the plan. If you have any comments re the Parish Council boundaries either use the link below or contact the Vale for a paper copy of the comments form (Vale of White Horse District Council, Abbey House, Abbey Close, Abingdon-On-Thames, OX14 3JE). This consultation period runs until Wednesday, 4 December 2013.

Area Designation

Vale of White Horse District Council has received an application from Charney Bassett Parish Council to produce a neighbourhood plan.

Neighbourhood Plans are a government initiative, designed to provide local communities with the opportunity to plan for their future development needs. They allow residents to propose new homes, shops and businesses for their area.

There are several stages involved in producing neighbourhood plans.  The first step is that the area that the organisation wants to do the plan in must be submitted to the district council, so that we can consult on and review its suitability.

As the qualifying body responsible for preparing a neighbourhood plan, Charney Bassett Parish Council has submitted an application to us proposing their neighbourhood area.  The proposed area follows the parish boundary.

Details of the proposed neighbourhood plan area can be found by visiting: www.whitehorsedc.gov.uk/neighbourhoodplans and clicking on the The Charney Bassett link.  Copies of the application are also available to view at the district council offices Monday – Thursday 9.00 am – 5.00 pm and Friday 9.00 am – 4.30 pm.

Members of the public can comment on the suitability of the proposed area for the neighbourhood plan from 23 October to 4 December 2013.

The council will use the comments to decide whether the area submitted for the Charney Bassett Neighbourhood Plan is suitable or not.  Please be aware that all comments received will be made available to the public to view.
